We understand that sometimes life takes twists and turns and that an owner needs to make the difficult decision that it is in the best interest of the dog to be placed in a new home.
We can help.
We take in collie, and shelties in Virginia and surrounding states.
Our focus is on finding the perfect home for each dog.
Some owners have driven or flown their pet to us from across the country.
Coastal is also known to be the "rescues rescue" if you are another rescue and need assistance with a special sheltie or collie case please reach out directly.
We specialize in extreme issues due to neglect or behavioral issues.
Whether you are struggling to decide if you can continue to take good care of your beloved pet or if you have already made the decision that you need to find a new home for your dog, we are available to discuss your dog and your situation. We are not here to judge you, we understand this is an extremely difficult choice you are making.
We may be able to make recommendations to help you keep your dog or we may be able to help you by taking your beloved dog into our placement program.
We do not recommend re-homing your dog through online listing services. Some folks respond to those types of listings for the sole purpose of reselling dogs for a profit.
Instead we highly recommend that you select a non-profit rescue group that is dedicated to finding homes for all Sheltie's and Collies.
We can assure you that finding the right home for your dog is our highest priority.
We never charge a fee for an owner to surrender a dog.
We want to keep you up to date after surrender if you wish.
We ask new owners to write a letter from the dog on how their new life is going and share it with you if you wish.
Currently we are taking in owners surrenders of shelties, collies, Old English sheepdogs and most herding dogs or small full breed dogs such as poodles, yorkies, mini schnauzers and mixes of those.
To discuss your situation, please contact us at: 804-552-1884 and one of our loving volunteers will walk with you through the process. Coastalsheltierescue@gmail.com
After you have been contacted by the placement team, you may be asked to fill out an owner surrender form.
