About Us

A Winning Team

Coastal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Virginia. We are a foster home based animal Shelter dedicated to finding loving new homes for unwanted, stray, and abandoned Shelties, Collies, Old English Sheepdogs, doodles and other small dogs.  We serve Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, eastern West Virginia, and south central Pennsylvania, and are staffed solely by volunteers.  We also strive to educate the public about the characteristics of the herding breed and the rewards of giving a home to a rescued dog.

The majority of the Coastal dogs are turned in to us by their previous owners.

Getting stated

The primary goals of CSR+ are for the health, safety, and well-being of the dogs in our program. The background information provided during the adoption process will be used to help match you with your new family member.  CSR+ wants to ensure a forever home! As such, this page contains important information for potential adopters.  We encourage you to read this page in entirety.

Each rescue has different requirements. The first step in the CSR+ adoption process is to read our Adoption Requirements located on the adoption guidelines page.  If you meet these requirements and agree to them, the second step is to fill out our application.

Our History

Seeing a need for energetic, nonprofit to support our community's animal, we formed our organization to provide sensible solutions. We've grown considerably since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!

Animals Are Our Mission

Our mission is to find loving homes for Shelties, Collies, Old English Sheepdogs and other small herding breeds that have become homeless through no fault of their own. We want to educate families in the care and well-being of their pets and if the need arises, to help those families maintain care and ownership of their beloved herders in a temporary crisis.
